The Guneid Sugar Cane Research Station was established in 1965 as a substation of the ARC Wad Madani till 1999, when it was transferred to the Sudanese Sugar Company and it was rehabitated and is now known as The Sugar Cane Research Centre (SCRC).

Mandate of the Centre:-

1.      To generate and introduce new varieties of sugarcane with high superior productivity and adaptability to our local conditions and tolerant to major diseases.

2.      To generate technical packages to address specific areas targeting high cane productivity and quality.

3.      Collaboration with other institutions of related field both inside and out side the country and the exchange of mutual information.
